Brunswick Secondary College is committed to building the culture of community.

To achieve the best possible learning outcomes for our students, the school actively pursues and promotes collaboration between staff, students, parents and carers. In addition to this, we seek and welcome community partners who can enhance and enrich our learning programs.

Parents’ Association

Collaboration with our parent/carer community is strongly encouraged – and highly valued.

The Parents’ Association, in collaboration with the Principal and School Council, works to enhance the wellbeing of the school community by encouraging active parent participation in school life and their children’s education. It provides opportunities for parents to connect, stay informed about school activities, and deepen their understanding of school operations and educational policies. The Association also raises funds for the benefit of the school, and fosters respectful partnerships, clear communication, transparency, and democratic decision-making in all its initiatives.

In recent years, the Parents’ Association has raised and contributed significant funds to enhance the school environment, including the purchase and installation of equipment for the gymnasium, soccer goals for use at break-times, classroom air conditioning, outdoor seating and the extensive renovation of the FBlock Atrium in 2024/25—initiatives that have been greatly appreciated by the entire school community. Members have also played an active role in organising and supporting key events such as the annual Trivia Night, Twilight Market, and Parent Information evenings, along with coordinating various social and fundraising opportunities to further benefit the school and its student community.

All parents and carers of Brunswick Secondary College students are encouraged to join the Parents’ Association and share their ideas and suggestions.

To learn more about how you can get involved, we invite you to attend one of the upcoming events or meetings, or reach out via email at brunswicksecondarypa@gmail.com.

School Council

School Council is the school’s major governing body.

The Brunswick Secondary College School Council comprises of

  • 6 (six) parent/carer members
  • 4 (four) Department of Education & Training staff members
  • 2 (two) student members and
  • 4 (four) community members – one of these positions is shared by the current School Captains

The school invites current School Captains to serve in the community member category: this allows up to four students to actively participate in School Council discussion and decisions.  Together, the staff, parent and student members oversee operations and establish the broad direction and vision for the school.

The Brunswick Secondary College School Council meets a minimum of twice per term. Nominations are called for in February each year, and an election held if required. Parents/Carers are welcome to contact  the School Council President via  schoolcouncil@brunswick.vic.edu.au if they would like to raise issues at School Council. Our school community can only be enhanced by ensuring ideas, information and concerns are shared and addressed.

Community Partners

Brunswick Secondary College is proudly committed to building strong and enduring community and professional partnerships.

The school is part of a dynamic local community that is vibrant, diverse and socially aware.  When we partner with community-based organisations and businesses, together we create a mutually beneficial framework from which all stakeholders benefit.

The school benefits from opportunities to promote student health, wellbeing, engagement, opportunity, contribution and inclusion – all of which lead to better learning outcomes. Businesses that partner with us enjoy a platform to demonstrate their commitment and care for their local community.

We are grateful for the support of the following organisations:
