2007 Rock Eisteddfod Backstage Crew
When people think of the Rock Eisteddfod they usually think of dancing… and that’s true, there is a lot of dancing involved. But there are other people involved too, other people behind the scenes like the teachers, lighting crew and the all important  backstage crew. You may not see our faces, but we are there, backstage, part of the team, help making the Rocka dreams of many people a success.

My part in the backstage was to move one of the many slides in time with the music and dancers – and we have as much to worry about, if not more than the performers, when we are on stage. Everybody can make mistakes. However, if you make a mistake with a three metre tall object in your hands, people are more than likely to figure out that wasn’t supposed to happen.

The sets when on stage create the mystical world that you are drawn into….then you put the dancers and performers in front and that creates a whole new world and a magical place that tells the audience a story. And when the dancers and backstage came together on the night ,it created a fantastic piece that won us the Premier Division.

My experience in the Rock Eisteddfod was fantastic. It will last with me forever. The rewards were many, the experiences, the friendships, the acknowledgement and of course, our win.

 Bec Forder, Year 9
