I was surprised and elated when I heard that I had won a Swannie Award. These awards are given to the best speaker from each grade in debating. At Brunswick we are given really fanatastic debating opportunities including workshops and competitions. Debating has helped me become more confident in speaking to large groups and with essays, presentations and my general approach to studying and thinking about issues. Holly, Year 10
In the Year 9 Bushwhacked class, I completed my Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award. To achieve this I played tennis for my physical recreation, reading as my skill, and helped out at my local tennis club for my service. It was a great experience, especially the camps. I highly recommend it. Hassan, Year 10
I got chosen to coach for the Year 7 Soccer team. The boys had big expectations of me but I soon eased into the role. On Sports Day I was nervous but also excited. I was thrilled my team got into the final which we won with an exciting goal with only two minutes to go. We all sang the Melbourne Victory chant at the end. Josh- Year 8

After the Black Saturday Bushfires, the Brunswick Secondary College felt the need to help the schools nearest to us. We had a Black Clothes Day where students donated a gold coin or more to the cause. We raised over $7,000. This was a great achievement that brought pride to our school community. Annalivia - Year 11
