At Brunswick we are given really fanatastic debating opportunities including workshops and competitions. Debating has helped me become more confident in speaking to large groups and with essays, presentations and my general approach to studying and thinking about issues. Holly, Year 10

Brunswick Secondary College is a multicultural school community that welcomes international students. We have an English Language Centre that is located within the main campus of the college. As students need to demonstrate a required level in English before entry into the school, many of our overseas students attend the Brunswick English Language Centre first. Here sudents study English intensively for three months to a year according to their level. The English Language Centre staff work closely with our teachers to ensure a smooth transition to secondary school. International students are fully integrated into the life of the college. This assists them to make rapid progress in learning English, developing supportive relationships with other students and meeting the challenges of integrating into a different culture and education system. International Students are also able to participate in the many opportunities for students we offer at the college. At Brunswick Secondary College, students from overseas are supported by our International Students Coordinator, Level Coordinators and Careers Counselor. The International Students Coordinator provides ongoing pastoral care, arranges group excursions and activities, and organizes academic support including a VCE mentor program and homework club. The college is well resourced with computers and Interactive Whiteboards. The library is spacious and attractive. Sporting facilities include a gym, four basketball courts, table tennis area and a million dollar multi-purpose playing field. International Students and their families are attracted to Brunswick Secondary College for a variety of reasons, its attractive and safe environs, proximity and links with the cultural heart of Melbourne and reputation for supporting students to achieve their best.
