Wellbeing is a whole school priority at Brunswick Secondary College in every classroom and in the fortnightly social and emotional learning program, COGS (Community Opportunity Growth and Success).
Optimal wellbeing is characterized by positive feelings and relationships, satisfaction with self and with learning and the resilience needed to bounce back from  disappointment of difficulty. 
It is important for students and families to be aware of wellbeing and mental health issues related to adolescence.  We know, for example,  that one in four young people will experience some form of mental health problem before the age of 18. We also know that student wellbeing and student academic outcomes are closely linked. Fortunately there is a lot of support within the community some of which are listed below.

Safe Schools Hub

​The Safe Schools Hub contains information about student wellbeing for schools, parents and students themselves.  The comprehensive Parent-section provides information about The National Safe Schools Framework, and information & resources that you may find useful in helping to make your child's school experience a positive and happy one.


Parent Zone is a magazine containing a wide range of information and resources for parents. It is produced by Anglicare.  Click on the link below to access the Northern Region edition.

Merri Community Health provides mental health, general health, dental and other services for children, youth and adults. They offer a range of programs and groups to support parents and carers. Brunswick SC parents who have participated in these groups have found the valuable.

Moreland Youth Services is a department in Council dedicated to providing a range of program, opportunities and support to young people in Moreland. A number of BSC students are involved in  Freeza events, visiting  the Oxygen Youth Centre​ and other recreational programs.
