Year 10 Work Experience

Yr. 10 Career Action Plan

We encourage and support our Year 10 students to continue their investigation toward their personal career pathways, using the insights gained during their Year 9 My Life experiences and through further research and participation in the careers program. While work experience is a highlight of Year 10, it is one of a series of staged experiences  designed to guide students toward the best possible decision about subject selection and their pathway beyond school. These include:

  1. Work Experience Week
  2. Safe@Work safety certificates - compulsory preparation for work experience
  3. VCE Subject selection preparation activities
    • completing the BSC - Career Voyage subject selection preparation booklet
    • attending the VCE subject expo at school in Term 3

Additionally,  there are many opportunities for Year 10 students to continue their research, including:

  • Year 10 students are strongly encouraged to attend TAFE and university Open Days to find out more about pre-requisite course entrance requirements e.g.  Latrobe University - year 10 resources
  • Individual career counselling - students should make the effort to see the Careers Counsellor to discuss career interests and/or subject selections
  • Explore this careers website, visit the Careers office, view the CareerNews newsletter and university course guides and read careers related information on Compass Newsfeed
  • Consider other study options such as VET (as part of VCE or VCAL) and suitability to VCAL pathway and begin to develop a career plan
  • Students can access VTAC Coursesearch on the VTAC Website to search courses that interest them and are provided with copies of VTAC publications surrounding subject choice selections for VCE.
