The VCAL (Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning)program is an alternative completion of Victorian secondary school education and involves students undertaking a program based on applied learning principles. There is a strong correlation between career development and VCAL because the primary destinations for VCAL students are either the workplace (apprenticeships/traineeships/employment) or a training institute (TAFE) for life after school.

This video was made by a past VCAL student, Massimo Lantieri-Bartley to explain what VCAL is about:

Some of the career development activities that students may be involved in throughout their VCAL program include Real Industry Job Interviews program, individual career counselling, Career Expos, vocational education and training (VET subject/TAFE course) and structured work placements one day per week.
